Hindustan Construction Company (HCC) is a private engineering construction company. The company was originally founded by Seth Walchand Hirachand on Jan. 27, 1926 and got its current name on Oct. 11, 1991. HCC is involved in the construction of diverse projects including power, dams, highways, bridges, marine structures, water supply, factories and waste treatment plants. HCC has built over 24 dams in almost all parts of India. It has built barrages across Farakka (West Bengal), Sone (Bihar), Godavari and Hathnikund. HCC has over 15 hydel power projects and several power tunnels. The company has been associated with 18 thermal power projects and three gas-based projects. It has been associated with the construction of four nuclear plants out of seven executed/under execution. Over the years, HCC has built more than 300 road and rail bridges and executed marine works like jetties, berths, harbors, docks, and breakwater projects. The company is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 certified for its quality, environmental and occupational health & safety management systems.
