Deepak Fertilisers & Petrochemicals Corporation (DFPCL) works out of its divisions, namely Industrial Chemicals, Ammonium Nitrate, Agri-Inputs Marketing and Crop Science. The Industrial Chemicals division manufactures methanol, various grades of nitric acid and ammonia used to manufacture drugs, pharmaceuticals, DMT, pesticides, methylamines, formaldehyde, etc. The Ammonium Nitrate explosives division manufactures low density ammonium nitrate used for making ammonium nitrate-fuel oil (ANFO), blasting agents and also emulsified ANFO (HANFO). Their products are used for open cast mining, underground metalliferrous mining and construction industry. The Agri-Inputs marketing division manufactures 23:23:0 prilled nitrophosphate fertiliser under the brandname Mahadhan. The total production and sale of CO2 was 13,000 MT for 2004-05 against last year`s 7,500 MT representing an increase of 73 per cent. The company`s current basket of chemicals, viz. methanol, various grades of nitric acid, hydrogen and carbon di-oxide caters to the bulk agri-chemicals, pharma, solvent and intermediary chemicals market. The current focus areas of the company are on selling the nitro phosphate fertiliser. The company has Smartchem Technologies and Deepak Nitrochem, Australia as its subsidiaries. The ECB loan of USD 10 million was drawn on May, 2004, which is repayable in two equal installments. The first installment shall be paid at the end of 36 months from the draw down date and second installment shall be paid on maturity date i.e. May, 2008. The company plans plant trials using the spare pipe reactor for ammoniation of dissolved rock solution. It aims to leverage its agro-inputs and services viz. Mahadhan Agriculture Research Centre (MARC), which would enable partnering with farmers.
