Ceat, the flagship company of the RP Goenka (RPG) group, is engaged in the manufacture and distribution of automotive tyres, tubes and flaps. The company was incorporated on March 10, 1958. The chairman of the company is R.P. Goenka and Paras K. Chowdhary, the managing director. The company offers a range of tyres to all user segments like heavy-duty trucks and buses, light commercial vehicles, earthmovers, forklifts, tractors, trailers, cars, motorcycles, scooters, and auto-rickshaws. It markets them under the brand name of Ceat, Samraat and Secura. The company has plants at Mumbai and Nashik in India and one in Sri Lanka. Ceat manufactures around 1.8 million tyres per annum. It is the only Indian tyre company to be awarded the ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification, by TUV, Netherlands. In April 2007, the de-merger of its investment business to a separate investment and finance company was approved. The company has long-standing business tie-ups with major OEMs including TATA Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mahindra & Mahindra, Maruti, L&T, Eicher, Swaraj Mazda, Caterpillar, Bajaj Tempo, Piaggio, Hero Honda, HMSI (wholly owned subsidiary of Honda Motors, Japan) and TVS Motors. The company also exports its tyres to around 110 countries across the world to USA, Africa, the Middle East and East Asia and enjoys good market share in countries such as Singapore, UAE and Philippines.
