Balrampur Chini Mills (BALRAMCHIN) is one of the largest integrated sugar manufacturing companies in India. The allied businesses of the company consist of manufacturing and marketing of alcohol, generation of power and manufacturing of organic manure.
The company was incorporated on July 14, 1975 as a subsidiary, got demerged and listed in 1979. Promoted by Kamal Nayan Saraogi (chairman emeritus), Suresh Neotia is the chairman, and Vivek Saraogi, the managing director of the company. Sugar is the main product of the company. Molasses is a byproduct generated from the manufacture of sugar which is distilled to produce rectified spirit, extra neutral alcohol, denatured spirit, potable alcohol and ethanol.
Bagasse, a byproduct, is used to make paper and generate electricity. Spent wash, an effluent generated from the processed molasses during the distillation process is used with press mud for the production of organic manure. The company has eight sugar factories located in Eastern Uttar Pradesh having an aggregate crushing capacity of 65,000 tons per day. The company is implementing another green field integrated sugar complex in Gularia, Lakhimpur Kheri district, with sugar crushing capacity of 8,000 tons per day, and a 31.3 MW (saleable 20 MW) power generation facility. The estimated capital outlay would be Rs 3,470 million.
The company acquired 47.63% stake in the equity capital of Indo Gulf Industries and now has an additional sugar unit with a crushing capacity of 3,000 TCD in Maizapur, Eastern Uttar Pradesh. The Haidargarh unit has ISO certification for environment, food safety, health and safety, and quality management. The registered office of the company is at FMC Fortuna, 234/3A, A.J.C.
