PSL (PSLLTD), formerly known as PSL Holdings, is a manufacturer of pipes and undertakes turnkey projects catering to the pipeline industry. It was incorporated on Aug. 24, 1987, and got its current name on Feb. 13, 2003. The company manufactures high-grade large-diameter spiral (helical) submerged arc welded pipes (HSAW) pipes. It designs and builds its own pipe-manufacturing and coating equipment in-house and undertakes turnkey HSAW plant and machinery manufacturing. PSL provides coating like polyethylene coating, coal tar enamel coating, concrete weight coating, fusion bonded epoxy coating, cement mortar lining, liquid epoxy coating and elastometric and field joint coating. Through its subsidiary PSL Corrosion Control Services, it provides corrosion protection for reinforcing steel bars. Ancillary products and services include induction pipe bending, sacrificial anodes, rebar coating and execution of turnkey projects. The HSAW pipes are used mainly in the transmission of oil, gas and water. PSL has 11 HSAW pipe mills and pipe coating mills in five cities across India with a manufacturing capacity of 1,100,000 tons per year. In 2007, the company bagged several contract including a contract from Fusion Provida, England for the supply of 124,000 meters 3 LPE coated line pipes to Cameg S.P.A., Algeria; a contract from Indian Oil Corporation for their Dadri-Panipat gas pipeline project for supply of pipes for a total length of 134 km; and an order from Bharat Oman Refineries for the supply of 599.6 Km of pipe for its prestigious Vadinar-Bina pipeline project. The company has an un-executed order book of over Rs 23 billion till September 2007. The company`s other subsidiaries include Pipeline Systems (Mauritius), PSL FZE (Sharjah), and PSL USA Inc. (USA). PSL Ltd. has stated that its Mississippi-based subsidiary PSL North America LLC. Had received orders for Rs.270 crore from large US-based Pipeline Operators. The orders in question are for large diameter API Certified High Pressure Gas Steel Pipes for an estimated length of over 100 miles.
