DLF (DLF) is a leading real estate developer based in New Delhi. It was originally incorporated as American Universal Electric (India) on July 4, 1963, and got its current name on May 27, 2006. The chairman of the company is K. P. Singh and R. Hari Haran, the CEO and secretary. The company operates under the segments of residential, commercial retail, hotels, infrastructure and SEZs. The company develops residential, commercial and retail properties. Its landmark project DLF City is spread over 3,000 acres in Gurgaon. DLF City incorporates Cybercity, a leading commercial development with approximately 20 million square feet area available for development. As of April 30, 2007, the company has residential projects with a saleable area of approximately 7 million sq. ft. under construction, commercial and retail projects with a lettable or saleable area of approximately 27 million sq. ft., and 10 million sq. ft. The company is in the process of seeking approvals for several SEZs which will cover an aggregate area of 26,100 acres. Prudential Insurance and DLF will form a joint venture to sell life insurance products in India. The company bought land from DCM in and east and west Delhi for Rs 35 million. It received an order of Rs 60 billion from Delhi Development Authority in Dwarka, New Delhi. DLF Hotels, the hospitality arm of the company, has inked a pact with Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts to operate a proposed luxury hotel at DLF Golf Links in Gurgaon to open by 2010.
