The mine in Australia is an underground mine with an ore resource of approximately 14.2 million metric tons copper ore. Located in the Pune and Aurangabad districts of Maharashtra, the manufacturing units have installed capacities of 268,000 MT continuous cast copper rods, 405,000 MT copper cathodes, 180,000 MT phosphoric acid, 1.3 million MT sulfuric acid, and 20,000 MT aluminum cold-rolled products. Listed in the recently launched S&P India 10 Index, the company produces copper cathodes which find application in continuous cast copper rods, wire bars, bus bars, billets, ingots, moulds and other semis, copper-based alloys, tubes, strips and foils. Chemicals produced include sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, phospho gypsum, hydro fluo silicic acid, and ferro sand. The company has recently entered the commercial energy generation business and is in the process of setting up a 2,400 MW independent power plant through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sterlite Energy.
