The Company's subsidiaries include JSL Structures, JSL Corporate Services and Shree Chhatrapati Shahu Power Company. Its facilities have been approved by various international utilities such as Vatenfall (Sweden), Power Link, Western Power and Trans GRID (Australia), IVO (Finland), ABB (Germany), BalforKilpatric (U.K.), HydroQuebec (Canada), National Grid (UK), Mott MacDonald (U.K.), Kennedy Donkin Power (U.K.). Jyoti Structures was incorporated in May 1974 and went public in 1985. JSL is headquartered at Mumbai. It is jointly promoted by V P Valecha of Valecha group, the Mirchandani group and Tata Exports. In 1993-94 Jyoti Structures diversified into non-related areas and set up a plant to manufacture refractories and insulated materials. It also acquired land to set up a prawn hatchery. Although there were rumors about its acquisition by Reliance Energy in July 2005, JSL continues its business independently.

Jyoti Structures Ltd. said its joint venture company had bagged a contract for Rs.551 crore from Godawari Green Energy Ltd. to set up a 50-MW concentrated solar thermal power plant in Jaisalmer district of Rajasthan on turnkey basis. The concentrating solar energy plant will feed power to the state grid by May 2013.
