Fame India, earlier known as Shringar Cinemas, is an integrated film distribution and exhibition company. It was incorporated on Oct. 26, 1999 as a private limited company, became a public limited company on Dec. 24, 2004, and got its present name on Dec. 03, 2007. The company runs single screens and multiplexes under the brand name Fame. With the recent opening in January 2008 of Fame Lido in Bangalore, it now has 14 properties and 48 screens operational. It plans to take the total screen count to 75 by 2008 and would position itself as one of the strongest players in the film exhibition arena by financial year 2011 with approximately 60 sites and 250 screens. Innovative Initiatives have been developed to increase ticket sales like getting to choose the seats while purchasing tickets on the internet, booking tickets over SMS, paid telebookings and PDA ticketing, footfall drive initiates like Hutch Tuesdays, and a tie-up with BPCL where petrocard holders can earn and utilize petromiles at Fame. Big Pictures Hospitality Services, a subsidiary, operates the food court business. It has planned to set up two food courts, one each in Chandigarh and Vadodara, by the end of FY08. The company has another subsidiary, Shringar Films, which has distributed movies like Raja Hindustani, Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikander, Chalte Chalte, Life Is Beautiful, and many more. The subsidiary holds rights to over 100 Bollywood films and has signed up with HDIL to program their forthcoming multiplexes at Vashi in Navi Mumbai, Bhandup and Kandivili in Mumbai.
