Balaji Amines (BALAJIAM), set up in 1988, is a manufacturer of specialty chemicals like methylamines, ethylamines, derivatives of specialty chemicals and natural products. The ISO 9001:2000 certified company manufactures amines such as monomethylamine, dimethylamine and mono methyl amino ethanol; specialty chemicals like morpholine; derivatives including di-methyl acetamide and choline chloride; and natural products like camptothecin and solanesol. N-methyl pyrrolidone and morpholine as import substitutes are being manufactured for the first time in India.
The state-of-the-art manufacturing facility is located near Solapur in Maharashtra with in-house R&D facilities and a laboratory. The second unit is in Hyderabad, which focuses on natural products and has a Department of Science and Technology, Government of India approved R&D centre with a highly qualified team of professionals. The products find use in growth-oriented industries across the globe like pharmaceuticals, agro chemicals, water treatment chemicals, rubber chemicals, refineries and photography chemicals. In FY07, the company set up a R&D plant for the manufacture of morpholine and revamped its methyl amines plant with balancing equipment, which has improved productivity. With the latest addition of process automation in various plants, the consumption of raw material and utilities has come down. Exports are routed to the UK, USA, Canada, Oman, Brazil, Korea, and South Africa among other countries.
