It is really sad that militant factions instead of working for the betterment of the state are using their armed struggle to give threats to companies and that is the reason North East is lacking in development.
Assam ULFA anti talk faction led by Paresh Baruah, a fugitive living in Bangladesh as a Muslim has served a 'quit notice' to a private oil and gas company ( Shiv-Vani Oil and Gas Exploration Services Ltd) in Assam alleging that they were exploiting the state's natural resources against the local people's interest.
Ulfa publicity cell stated and we quote "We are giving them the notice to stop all their operations in the state and leave within one and half months from today," said an ULFA statement on the quit notice to Shiv-Vani Oil and Gas Exploration Services Ltd. "If the company based outside Assam tries to continue its operations here with the help of security forces going against the interest of the local people, then its impact will be on the employees of the company,"
The statement has been issued on behalf of Paresh Barua by its central publicity wing chief Arun Oday Dehotia said. Company officials couldn't be reached for comment. Paresh Barua should leave the armed struggle and join Arabinda Rajkhowa Pro talk group as no where armed struggles can lead to independent states and that in a country like India where it is a voluntary army. If Osama Bin Laden has been killed Paresh will also meet his fate with the bullet, but by issuing such diktats he is playing with the prospects of Assam as a growth engine for the country.
