1. In a break through development National Stock Exchange (NSE) is going to commence trading in Nifty futures contracts at 8.00 am, nearly two hours before the stock market opens for trade and for this development it has shot a letter to SEBI for seeking permission. The prime reason for preponement of timing is due to the fact that these Nifty futures are listed at Singapore Exchange (SGX). SGX offers SGX CNX Nifty futures, which are dollar-denominated derivative contracts with Nifty as the underlying. Moreover it is most sought after derivative in trading in Singapore.
2. The point here to note is that these contracts trading commences at 9.00 am Singapore time and their time is 2.30 hours ahead of IST and as a net result the trader gets 3.30 hours advantage in trading. Moreover SGX Nifty was being seen as a cue in Indian cash markets.
3. Disadvantage: The whole stock market community has to wake up early.
4. Advantage: No more looking at SGX Nifty for cues in national market.
5. Launch: Trials are on and may be launched any time and this may be as early as coming Monday.
