1. It is a cheer time with VI pay commission likely to be announced on 15 Aug,2008, but hold your breath as you may not get money in hand till Nov. However 40% of arrears will be paid this year and 60% next year.The main highlights is as following:
(a) One will be able to get additional 20 % raise over the pay bands suggested by the Commission courtesy intervention of PM.
(b) One will be able to see a uniform of 3% raise in basic pay every year.
(c) This takes effect from January 2006.
(d) IAS lobby ruled and thus no Cabinet Secretary rank for Intelligence Bureau chief, the three Service chiefs or the Chairman, Railway Board.
(e) Group D personnel will be able to save their jobs. (peons in ministries and porters in Railways)
(f) Rs 2000 will be paid as Military service pay to persons below the officer rank (POBR) per month.
(g) Brigadiers most benefitted as they have been placed in Pay Band 4 (Rs 39,200-67,000) from the suggested Pay Band 3 (Rs 15,600-39,100).(h) D.I.G-scale has been abolished in IPS and Indian Forest Service cadre.
2. The miscalculation of the dearness allowance undertaken by commission has been absorbed in the new basic pay and now it stands at 83% instead of 74%.
