1. Market was under pressure due to weak global cues and as a result Sensex closed at 15,587, down 169 points and Nifty closed at 4709, down by 51 points.
2. Midcaps and smallcaps saw some interest and as a result CNX Midcap index was up 0.8% and BSE Smallcap index was up by 0.5%.
3. Banking and consumer durable stocks saw some interest whereas metal, capital goods and IT stocks were shunned by the investors.
4. Top gainers on the Sensex included BHEL, Bharti Airtel and ICICI Bank.
5. Losers list included L&T, Wipro and JP Associates in the heavy weight segment.
